A Big Girl Bed...Finally!

>> Thursday, January 14, 2010

Abby has been asking for a big girl bed for quite a while now...so we finally got her one. It was long overdue, I know. I think this sequence of pictures adequately captures her excitement.

I think she gets this from me as I am equally excited to get into my bed at the end of the day...or anytime, really!

Being the people person that she is she quickly invited her siblings to join in the fun. What a sweetheart...that's our Abbygirl!

Surprise...I'm Baaaack!

>> Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Casey and I are no good at waiting for Christmas to give our big gifts. Last year it was a trampoline that came early December and this year it's our new camera. Can't tell you how excited I am to have a goooooood camera. How good you ask? Look and See!

Ok...ok...so I know I'm no Jen Gillum or Rhonda Kane, but still pretty great pictures, right?! (Thanks for the tips, Rhonda!)

From angry pictures to angry pictures with stories...

A conversation overheard in our family room this morning...

Gabriel: I made a picture for you , Daddy. It's a picture of you and Mommy. You're bigger than her but she's got claws and is destroying you.

Casey: Alright. Is that because I made you turn off Spyro (a beloved video game)?

Gabriel: Yep.

Casey: Son, you've got some serious angst for a 5 year old.

I Love 5!

>> Monday, March 16, 2009

5 is such a great age! For the record, I have enjoyed every age my kids have been, but I am particularly enjoying Gabriel at age 5. Not only has he reached many milestones at 5, but he's also grown into himself a bit. Anyone that knew him and our struggles with him at 4 will know what I mean. Here are a few of the milestones he's hit at 5...

*Learned how to swim
*Learned to ride a bike without training wheels
*Went to preschool with NO PROBLEM
*Learned to buckle his own seatbelt (all you mommies out there know how HUGE this is)
*Started reading (very basically, but still)
*Became much more obedient and responsive to consequences (again, I'm not talking perfection, but we've seen MAJOR growth)

I've also loved watching his imagination grow. Right now he is particularly fond of becoming new characters...some conventional (like Superman) others are more a product of his own imagination and the dress-up clothes we have on hand (see below).

Enjoy!

Here are some pictures of Gabriel and Abby in their Little Dribbler basketball clinic. They both made huge improvements and had a blast. (Sorry for the poor picture quality.)

Hi Peeps,

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. All I can say is I've been busy with my new best friend...Facebook...I'm just saying...

So here are a few of our favorite pictures from the past few weeks. Enjoy!

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

>> Wednesday, February 11, 2009

So Gabriel (age 5) has been going through an interesting stage lately. He's been expressing his dissatisfaction with Casey and me by drawing us "angry" pictures. He started by making angry faces at us...when we nixed that he decided he would roar at us...when we nixed that his last resort was to draw it out. I guess you could call that creative thinking?! Maybe he'll be an artist like his daddy? We've gotten quite a few of these beauties lately (which of course we're saving for future fun) and it's pretty obvious when he's preparing one as he'll go directly to the art table and quietly work there for a few minutes. Then he'll present "the punisher" (either Casey or me) with his angry picture and explain to us why we're receiving it. I've posted one for your enjoyment...we're sure getting a kick out of them (unbeknownst to Gabriel, of course).

We particularly love the claws!
